The New York Times reports that Pokemon Go, a smartphone game that allows users to play virtual creatures in real-world locations, is “an triumph” of virtual reality.
The game’s release in late September marked a significant milestone for the mobile industry.
The game has already been downloaded more than 20 million times and has spawned more than a million memes.
The report notes that the game is being released in the U.S. and Canada and that the app will be available to download for iPhone and Android users.
In Japan, the app has also been available to buy.
As we reported last month, Pokemon Go allows users of the app to capture wild creatures, hunt them, and then battle other players.
It’s a fun way to take part in a virtual world, and the game’s popularity has only grown in Japan.
