All games: The Canadiens are on a nine-game winning streak, with their last loss coming on the night they clinched the Presidents’ Trophy.
They’ll host the Ottawa Senators in Montreal on Wednesday night, then head to the Atlantic Division leader Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday to take on the Eastern Conference champs.
Teams that finished last season in the standings: The St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks all finished last in the Eastern Division, but all are on the rise this season.
The Blues are a game behind the Ottawa Sens, who have a six-game lead over Winnipeg.
The Oilers and Devils both have six games left in the season, and the Canucks are just three points out of first place in the Pacific Division.
Sportsnet’s pre-season schedule: Hockey Central takes over the CBC Sports Network from 9 p.m.
